Genshin is a very empathetic, gentle and compassionate young man with a high sense of responsibility. He is very loyal to Uta Kamijo that he is always willing to do whatever it takes to please him and make him happy.

Etymology[]
- The name Genshin means "string/bowstring, handle" (弦) (gen) and "heart, mind, soul" (åæ) (shin).
- Genshin's surname Shimizu means "clear water/pure water/spring water" (ęø ę°“).
Trivia[]
- Genshin's character-specific color is a grey with the hex code #5c5c5c.
- Genshin became an idol because he liked the songs that Uta Kamijo composed and wanted more people to listen to it.
- Genshin is the president of Uta's fanclub at school.
- Genshin has a younger sister.
- Genshin's best subject is Biology. One of his memory photos is him feeding the departmentās fish.
- Genshin keeps an eel as pet, and named it āUnagiā (eel). For some reason, heās keeping it a secret from Uta.
- Genshin is fond of sweets as he is shown eating a strawberry shortcake and macarons in his memory photos. In one of his 4* memory photos, heās very excited about a shortcake one of the staff brought in from a famous confectionery shop. This is also the reason why he gets along well with fellow sweets lovers: Takumi, Soushi and Riku.
- In the āThe Hamami Kids are Fond of Snow?!ā event story, when Producer-san offers Red Bean soup as the after-lunch snack, Genshin mentions that he loves it.
- Genshin's room is the only room that Sui haven't sneaked into.
He also has an older stepbrother after his father remarries, which is Kurisu, who is also Uta's previous partner in La-Veritta. Uta however does not know the relationship between Genshin and Kurisu after Kurisu passes away, and Genshin replacing his brother in the unit. He learned to write lyrics from his deceased older brother, who is good at it. Although they had reconciled after Uta returned to DearPro, their relationship was on the brink of collapsing again after Uta found out that Genshin is Kurisu's younger brother. After a fight with Uta, Genshin ran away form Shirasu House. Realizing that his actions are foolish, he ran back to the dorm but on his way, he saved a little kid who almost get hit by the car, but he ended up being hit instead. He broke his arm and was comatosed for two months. He only woke up from the coma after Kurisu spoke in his dreams and hearing Uta's singing.
